JUST ANOTHER WONDERER

Ugo Castellucci is an Italian / Belgian / American artist, photographer, creative based in San Francisco Bay Area since 2011, originally from Brussels. With a background in architecture and graphic design, Ugo has always had a growing passion for photography, which he developed through his journey into music and creative works.
vAs a graphic designer, visual artist, music producer, dj, creative,  Ugo Castellucci seamlessly blends his passion for music, art and design with his keen eye for photography. His visual art is greatly influenced by street culture, graphic design and architecture, expressed through repetitive compositions, patterns, details and bold statements, raw vision and minimalism. Ugo captures the story of the ordinary extraordinary, always seeking to evoke emotions and transform ordinary subjects into powerful visuals.
He expresses his style through the essence of unfolded daily poetic scenes, embarking us in his colorful daydreaming adventure, his dreamality. He is not just another wonderer, he is a wonderer that does photography in a visually striking manner. Through his lens, Ugo is emulating cinematic / poetic stories, looking for the layer behind the layer, the hidden beauty in some unexpected places, the story behind the story.

DREAMALITY

Whether he’s wandering the streets of Los Angeles, San Francisco or hunting the raw beauty of the west coast, he’s not seeking only for the Americana or California dream. He’s looking for the idealism and realism of the West Coast, the dream behind the reality, the reality behind the dream. Finding his DREAMALITY.
His work employs a straightforward and unembellished aesthetic, using clean lines, flat colors, and minimalistic compositions to create a strong visual impact and unique narrative. Ugo Castellucci explores the textures of cities, capturing the urban and natural aesthetics, always looking for the calm in the chaos, the mess in the stillness.

AUTOPIA

With his AUTOPIA series, Ugo Castellucci explores the repetition of shapes, corners and angles. Using cars as a subject matter, he transports us in time, bringing nostalgia for a retro-futuristic era. For him, collecting compositions of cars corners is more important than the car models themselves. Every detail, from the environment to the colors of the paint, the lines, the curb, the streets and the stickers, is used to create the photo aesthetic, revealing some abstractionism within the compositions like a painting. Autopia is not just about vintage cars, cars are the motto, the inspiration.
As Magritte would say - Ceci nest pas une voiture.-  This is not a car. This is Autopia.
Ugo's work has garnered recognition from supporters and art specialists who see influences of renowned artists such as Ed Ruscha, Robert Bechtle, Dennis Hopper, Barbara Stauffhauser, William Eggleston, and Stephen Shore. Ugo's photography is still emergent and he feels honored, humbled by these comparisons.
